Liam Storey (24) is a professional
drummer and percussionist, and has been a busy performer and teacher over the last few years.
Moving to London from March, Cambridgeshire in 2002 to
study music, he has worked hard at his playing for many years,
and turned professional early 2006.
As well as his commitments with Storey, Liam also played with top dance act Freestylers on the Prague leg of their recent European tour, and lists this as one of his greatest experiences. He teaches as part of the Ealing Drum School with top UK drummer Clive Jenner (Proclaimers, Groove Armada) so seems to spend most of the day sat behind his kit, which at least keeps him happy!
He plays a Yamaha
Stage Custom kit, Sabian cymbals with Vic Firth sticks, and his style
is very much based upon solid grooves and playing 'for
the band,' much like his heroes John Bonham, Carter Beauford
and Nick Mason. His timing and fills are always tasteful,
and this approach hides the impressive technique he actually
has!
